Human knowledge is accumulated in books, so they make great teachers that are valued by all.
Out of the 10 book cafes in Saigon, the book cafés of Phuong Nam Cultural Corporation are known to be well invested and possibly the best.
In Phuong Nam book cafes, the book rooms are green and elegant with glass walls.
The room is divided into smaller areas by bookcases. Books range from philosophy to economics, comics for children and novels for adults.
The best thing about the space is that it’s quiet, except for soft music.
“Every week, leaving all the tiredness behind, I come to this book café to relax and get more knowledge. When my eyes tire, I can give them a rest by looking at the sky and trees outside through the glass windows. This world in here is a contrast to the traffic outside,” said Ho Hai, a regular customer of the book café.
For foreign readers, the Phuong Nam book cafes at 125 Hung Vuong Street and 105 Tran Hung Dao Street in District 5 offer books in the Chinese-language while the book café at 2A Le Duan Boulevard in District 1 is filled with English books.
The cafes serve a variety of juices – Sintos with pineapple, orange and lemon; Pino drink - a mix of mango, lemon, pineapple, lemon and ice cream; and Moonlight made of passion fruit, mango and pomelo.
Another Phuong Nam book café at 3 Nguyen Oanh Street in Go Vap District hosts writers’ talks on traditional and contemporary music, literature and other subjects. Writers share their experience and introduce new book titles.
