Ready, set, go for BBGV Fun Run next month

The British Business Group Vietnam (BBGV) will hold the 11th annual HCMC fun run on October 3.

The organizers expect around 6,000 runners and walkers including company-staff teams and serious runners to take part in the 4km event to raise US$40,000 for local charities in Vietnam.

Participants will gather at Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens (2 Nguyen Binh Khiem Street, Dist. 1) at 6 a.m. before the 6:45 a.m. start. The route follows Le Duan, Dong Khoi, Mac Thi Buoi and Hai Ba Trung streets before finishing back at the zoo.

Prizes for first man and woman over the line are Vietnam Airlines business class return tickets to either Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur or Singapore and a full Adidas running kit including trainers. Second place winners will be awarded one night stays at the Evason Ana Mandara and one night stays at the Six Senses Hideaway Ninh Van Bay for two including breakfast and transfers.

The organizers will award first and second placed teenagers (aged 13 to 18) an Adidas full running kit including trainers, while the first girl and boy from 6 to 12 years-old will receive a Nestle Milo Bike.

Last year, the BBGV Fun Run attracted 5,000 runners and raised US$36,000 to support the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation medical assistance program, Saigon Children’s Charity florist training program, improving road safety awareness in Dong Nai Province for 30 high risk schools, improving the learning environment at the Education Center for Disabled Children in District 4, Orphan Impact – Support Center for Development of Children and the Phase 5 charity in Hanoi.

Registration for the race begins on Monday for VND100,000 for adults and VND50,000 for children from six to 12 years and free for kids under six. The fee includes the run and refreshments afterwards.
