Dai-ichi Life Japan Corporation donated US$15,000 to the Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients of HCMC to assist in the ‘Bringing the Light to the Poor Blind’ program on the fifth Anniversary of Dai-ichi Life Vietnam.
Koichiro Watanabe, president of Dai-ichi Life Japan, delivered the donation and marked the fourth consecutive year that the firm has backed the charity program to sponsor cataract surgery for 400 disadvantaged patients in HCMC and other cities and provinces this year.
The latest donation has brought the total contribution to US$70,000 and the gift of sight to nearly 2,000 poor patients with cataract disease, which is one of the main causes of blindness nationwide.
“We all wish to bring good things to life and ‘Bringing the Light to the Poor Blind’ is one of the miracles that our community can do for them,” Watanabe said.
Tran Thanh Long, chairman of the city association, applauded Dai-ichi Life Japan for their recent donation.
Dai-ichi Life Vietnam also cooperates with the Fatherland Front Committee of HCMC to build gratitude houses and award scholarships to disadvantaged students.
