The Kon Tum provincial People’s Committee on Feb. 24 hosted a conference
to review a project between the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum
and the United Nations organisations for the 2007 – 2011 period.
The ongoing project, entitled “Increasing capacity of planning and
implementing socio-economic development plans and providing basic social
services in Kon Tum province”, was organised by the United Nations
Development Programme in Vietnam, the United Nations Population Fund in
Vietnam, the United Nations Children’s Fund in Vietnam and the
provincial People’s Committee.
The Vietnamese
Government contributed 0.5 million USD to the project worth 5.5 million
USD, which was implemented in Dak Ha and Tumo Rong districts.
From now until 2016, the project will continue to increase capacity in
creating socio-economic development plans and preparing local budget
estimates, improving quality of healthcare services for children and
reproductive health services for adolescents, as well as engage in
activities to prevent injuries among children and ensure environmental
hygiene in medical stations.
Additionally, it also
contributes to promoting primary education in line with ensuring hygiene
and preventing injuries, and building protection networks on issues
related to children, especially AIDS./.
