-- During an official visit to Japan from Oct.30 to Nov.2, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his Japanese counterpart signed cooperation agreements on the construction of the nuclear power plant Ninh Thuan 2 and the exploitation and developments of rare earth industry.

-- Kazakhstan president Nursultan Nazarbayev confirmed his counterpart Truong Tan Sang during his visit to Hanoi yesterday that Vietnam is a major political and economic partner of the nation in the region.

-- At the meeting of the Interpol General Assembly in Hanoi yesterday, participants exchanged their views on organized crimes as human and drugs trafficking and hi-tech crimes as fishing. Interpol president Khoo Boon Hui said the world has averagely damaged US$400 billion a year for only hi-tech crime.

-- Vietnam is encouraging its citizens to vote for its travel hotspot Ha Long Bay as one of the seven new nature wonders in the world.

-- Le Minh Long, 29 was shot yesterday by a policeman of the Special Forces of District 6 Police Department after they had quarrel while riding on Vo Van Kiet Highway in Ho Chi Minh City. Long was shot in his chest and has been in a coma at Cho Ray Hospital.

-- Authorities in the central Khanh Hoa Province have held a four-day training course on health emergency aid at the Da Tay island in the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago in the East Sea. The service is aimed to improve first aid for injured fishermen working in the area.
