-- The Embassy of Vietnam and overseas Vietnamese in the Netherlands have held a friendly get-together to celebrate Tet in the Year of the Dragon.
-- A memorial complex to President Ho Chi Minh will be built in Xieng Vang Village, Nong Bok District, in the Khammouan province of Laos, according to a recent agreement signed in Vientiane by Chu Duc Tinh, director of Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh Museum, and Souvandi Sisavath of Laos ’ Kaysone Phomvihane Museum.

-- The Ministry of Education and Training has instructed localities to achieve the universalisation of junior secondary school education in all communes nationwide this year.
Illiteracy has been eradicated in all communes and districts and 55 out of 63 provinces and cities have achieved the universalisation of primary school education, according to the ministry.
-- A functional rehabilitation program worth VND12 billion ($570,000) funded by the German organization, Caritas, has helped 540 disabled people in Dong Ha City and Gio Linh and Cam Lo districts in central Quang Tri province integrate into the community.
-- The secretary board of Ramsar Convention in Vietnam is finalizing official procedures to declare Tram Chim National Park in Tram Chim District in the Mekong Delta’s Dong Thap Province a new world’s Ramsar site, said Nguyen Duc Tu, Water and Wetlands Coordinator of the International Union for Conservation of Nature in Vietnam.
-- The Overseas Labour Management Department has set a target of sending 90,000 workers abroad this year, up around 2.7 percent year on year. Most Vietnamese workers were sent to work in nearly 40 countries and territories, mostly in the Republic of Korea, Taiwan, Japan and Malaysia in 2011.

-- The value of Vietnam’s agro forestry and fisheries exports is estimated at $1.8 billion in January, a year-on-year drop of 16.3 percent, said the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

-- The Huong (Perfume) pagoda in Hanoi’s suburban district of My Duc has opened, attracting tens of thousands of people from across the country.
