-- Nguyen Tat Huynh, deputy head of the Distribution Department at the State Bank said last Sunday that only VND17 million ($850) out of VND448 million (US$22,400) worth banknotes burned at the Quang Ngai market fire on February 9 could be reimbursed. The State Bank today will report to the governor about the non-reimbursable banknotes and then seek for the government’s guidelines to solve the situation.
-- The Ministry of Transport last Sunday approved a plan to develop transportation in the Mekong Delta in 2020, including projects to build highways on distances like My Thuan- Can Tho, Can Tho- Cau Mau, Chau Doc- Can Tho- Soc Trang, Ha Tien- Rach Gia- Bac Lieu.
-- The Coast Guard of the Philippines has rescued nine Vietnamese fishermen aboard a fishing vessel from the central province of Quang Ngai , which ran aground near Balabac Strait , the Vietnamese Embassy in the Philippines announced on Feb.18. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam said it is co-coordinating with the central province of Quang Ngai , the Vietnamese embassy and authorized Philippine agencies to complete necessary procedures to help the fishermen return home.

-- The 8th tourism day in Ho Chi Minh City will take place on April 12-15 in the city’s September 23 Park, according to Nguyen Thanh Rum, director at the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. There will be 20 booths in the food area, 130 booths by tourism companies offering travel deals, an exhibition area to introduce tourism products.
-- Quang Ninh Province has pledged to speed up administrative reform, publicity of lists of projects calling for investment, introduction of preferential treatment to specific investment projects, and improvement of infrastructure. The province currently houses 89 valid foreign-invested projects with total registered capital of over $3.7 billion.

-- Cai Luong (southern folk opera) will be performed with English language translation by the Hanoi Cai Luong Theatre at the Chuong Vang (Golden Bell) in Hanoi on February 17-18, and expects to draw a large number of foreign tourists. The theatre will also present to visitors short dramas, Cham dances, Quan Ho duet singing and other kinds of folk music.
-- The Hue Relics Preservation Centre and its partners have completed a project to produce 3D images that feature historic architecture, marking a new step forward in restoration work for Vietnam. The images use real-time rendering technology to depict Vo Thanh Temple, one of the city's most popular ancient relics, built in 1835 under the Minh Mang reign.
