-- Two Vietnamese-American female students have been rescued after their car ended up in Lake Ray Hubbard early Saturday morning, according to a report by ABC news. The survivors, who were identified later as Nhi Tran and her cousin Nhi, say they were heading home after an evening out when they got lost.

-- Brunei police on Jan. 20 arrested a fishing vessel from central Binh Dinh Province with nine fishermen on board, due to their fishing illegally in Brunei’s waters, according to the Vietnamese Embassy in Brunei. VNA reports.

The prices of plastic bags have shot up since the Environmental Protection Tax Law came into effect this month. From January 1 a kilogramme of plastic bags attracts a tax of up to VND50,000, as the Government seeks to reduce their use by supermarkets and shopping centres by 40 per cent by 2015. VNS reports.
