A crash between a train traveling on north-south railway and a car in central province of Quang Ngai on Monday afternoon killed 3 and injured 4 others.

The collision took place at a crossing between railway and motorway in Nghia Hanh District as the 7-seat car failed in trying to cross the railway.

The car was dragged about 200 meters on the road after being hit by the train.

The crash killed three people in the car, including Nguyen Thanh Tuan, Nguyen Sa Ly in Nghia Trung Communes, and a man named Luc from Lam Dong Province.

Four others were injured, including Nguyen Di (the car’s owner) and Nguyen Sa Ny in Nghia Hanh Communes, Le Van Tien from Quang Tri Province and driver Le Van Ha. All four victims were then rushed to Quang Ngai General Hospital.

Driver Le Van Ha, who suffered minor injuries after the crash, said when he saw the train was coming, he tried to push the accelerator as hard as he can so that the car can make it across the railway section safely.

At the scene, though there are no barriers, the signal light system and speakers still work well.

Local police have rushed the site to regulate traffic, promptly correct the problem, and investigate the cause of the accident.
