Vietnam, Laos boost IT cooperation

Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son and the Lao Minister of Post and Telecommunications Hiem Phommachanh discussed measures to enhance bilateral cooperation in post, telecommunications and information technology at their talks in Hanoi on Dec. 15.

The Vietnamese ministry is assisting its Lao counterpart in implementing a number of projects using Vietnam’s ODA in building policies and improving State management capacity for Lao officials.

The two ministers exchanged views on how to implement cooperative agreements signed by the two ministries earlier the same day.

The two ministries’ cadres shared experiences in building managerial policy on post, telecommunications, IT and radio frequencies.

Vietnam and Laos agreed to speed up cooperation in developing infrastructure, post and telecom services and IT in the two countries.

While in Vietnam from Dec. 14-17, the Lao delegation held working sessions with the Posts and Telecommunications Institute, the Posts and Telecommunications Group and the military-run telecom firm, Viettel./.
