VN sets example in struggle for freedom: Cypriot President

Vietnam will always be a bright example for nations throughout the world which are struggling for independence, freedom and equality in development and co-existence in peace.

The President of Cyprus, Demetris Christofias, made the affirmation while receiving Vietnamese Ambassador Dang Khanh Thoai who presented President Truong Tan Sang’s credentials to him on January 15.

The Cypriot President said he admired the Vietnamese people’s resilient and unyielding struggle for independence, freedom and national reunification, and congratulated Vietnam on its great achievements made during the national construction and defence.

The President stressed that the Government and people of Cyprus always treasure the traditional friendship and cooperation with Vietnam and will do their best to consolidate and develop that relationship.

For his part, Ambassador Thoai affirmed that the Vietnamese Government and people attach importance to developing the friendship and cooperation with Cyprus , especially in economics, trade and labour.

He expressed his belief that with efforts made by both sides, the traditional friendship between the two countries will further develop in the future./.
