VN, Laos celebrate friendship year 2012

Vietnam and Laos have held many activities to celebrate Friendship and Solidarity Year 2012.

Lao Vice President Bounnhang Volachit received a visiting delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Office, headed by its Director Tran Quoc Vuong on Feb. 8, in Vientiane.

The Lao Vice President affirmed that the Laos-Vietnam special friendship is an invaluable property of the two nations and needs to be constantly developed.

Vuong stressed that the Vietnamese Party and Government attach importance to boosting relations with Laos and make strong preparations for activities as part of celebrations for the friendship year.

The Vietnamese delegation held talks with a delegation of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee Office on Feb. 7.

Also on Feb. 8, a delegation of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association led by Deputy President Nguyen Huy Quang had talks with a delegation of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association in Vientiane, as part of its visit to Laos from Feb. 7-13.

The two sides discussed measures to implement programs to celebrate the Friendship Year and reviewed past cooperative activities.

They agreed to boost the dissemination of information to people in each country about the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, in order to sustainably develop those ties.
