
The cooperation in nuclear energy with Russia has a significant
meaning, expressing the trust and strategic partnership defined between
Vietnam and Russia.
This was stated by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on receiving the
General Director of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation, Sergei V.
Kirienko, on September 3 in Hanoi.
Prime Minister
Dung spoke highly of the negotiations between agencies of the two
countries, especially the draft cooperation agreement for building the
first nuclear power plant in Vietnam, which is scheduled to be signed on
the visit of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to Vietnam in October.
Prime Minister Dung thanked the friendly country for
training Vietnamese technical staff in building the nuclear power plant,
research centres, application of nuclear energy for the sake of peace
as well as the technical supervision centres in Vietnam.
General Director Sergei V. Kirienko expressed Rosamtom’s honour to be
selected as partner for the building of the first nuclear power plant in
Vietnam.
He also provided positive results in
negotiating issues related to the project including technology,
materials, waste treatment and nuclear security./.
