BEIJING — Vietnamese Minister of Public Security Le Hong Anh and his Chinese counterpart Meng Jianzhu signed a co-operation agreement on prevention and control of human trafficking yesterday.
The two ministers also signed the minutes of the second anti-crime conference between the two ministries.
At the second anti-crime conference held in Beijing, Anh said the timing of the forum had been auspicious because it had taken place while the two countries were celebrating the 60th anniversary of the formal establishment of diplomatic ties and during the Viet Nam-China Friendship Year.
It was a practical activity, which made these events more significant, he said.
Meng took the opportunity to confirm his ministry's wish to enhance co-operation with Viet Nam's Public Security Ministry to overcome future challenges.
The conference reviewed anti-crime co-operation and discussed future strategies.
Both sides agreed that cross-border crime had been brought under control and that security along the border had been enhanced, resulting in increased peace, friendship and development in the area.
The two sides called for the continuation of information exchange on crime and strengthened co-operation in culture and sports.
Also yesterday, Anh paid a courtesy visit to Politburo Standing Committee member of the Communist Party of China Central Committee (CPC CC) and Secretary of the CPCCC's Political and Legislative Affairs Committee Zhou Yongkang.
