Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan met with donors for the National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC) in Hanoi on January 14.
Speaking
at the meeting, Vice President Doan praised businesses, organisations
and individuals for their contributions to the care, protection and
education of children.
She said she hoped that more businesses and compassionate people will join hands to support the fund in the future.
She
affirmed the work relating to the development of children is part of
the human development strategy of the Party and the State.
Since
the NFVC was established in 1992, it has raised more than 3.2 trillion
VND in donations, contributing to changing the lives of millions of
children in difficult circumstances and supporting tens of thousands of
disabled kids.
Vietnam is the first country in Asia and the
second in the world to sign and ratify the UN Convention on the Rights
of the Child.
The National Assembly has issued a law on
protection, care and education of children and the Government has
fulfilled a number of basic targets in the National Action Programme for
Children for 2001-2010 and adopted the National Prorgamme of child
protection for 2011-2015./.
