Nation to host regional parliamentarians next week
HA NOI — Nearly 360 parliamentarians from regional countries will participate in the 31st ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Association (AIPA) General Assembly to be held in Ha Noi next week.
The five-day event, which Viet Nam will host for the first time, is expected to further strengthen solidarity and co-operation among ASEAN members and between the region and its partners. The AIPA-31, starting next Monday, will discuss a wide range of issues including economic co-operation, climate change, human resources, and energy. The role of women in recovering post-crisis era economies would also be discussed during the meetings.
Separate dialogues will take place between ASEAN members and their observers next week. The seven observers include Australia, Canada, China, European Parliament, Japan, South Korea and Russia.
