Vietnam’s 65th National Day (September 2) was celebrated in all parts
of the world, from north and south America to Europe and Africa.
The Vietnamese embassy to Argentina held a big meeting for this
purpose with the participation of some 300 guests, including Government
officials and foreign diplomatic corps in the capital city of Buenos
Aires.
Ambassador Nguyen Van Dao highlighted
Vietnam’s glorious victories in national defence and construction
since President Ho Chi Minh declared the national independence on
September 2, 1945.
He also emphasised that
bilateral relations between Vietnam and the Latin American country
now reached its peak with the existence of various dialogue channels.
“2010 recorded two milestone events. They are a
visit by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung to Buenos Aires in April and
an upcoming visit by President Cristina Fernandez to Vietnam in
October,” said the diplomat.
The meeting was in
the highlights of Argentine mass media, including TV channels, radio
programmes and dailies. Some press agencies have interviewed the
Ambassador or published feature stories about the Vietnamese country and
people.
On the same day, the Vietnamese embassy
to Italy held a party, which was attended by members of foreign
diplomatic corps, representatives of international organisations,
Italian business circles and hundreds of overseas Vietnamese.
Ambassador Dang Khanh Thoai recognised contributions by expatriates
abroad and assistance by the international community to Vietnam’s
national defence and development, especially 20 years of renewal.
He expressed strong belief in further development of relations between Vietnam and Italy .
Participants shared happiness over impressive progress made by
Vietnam in the recent past, especially in keeping high GDP growth
amidst global economic crisis.
The Vietnamese
embassy to South Africa has joined in the trend for the National Day
celebration, which was held in Pretoria in the presence of Deputy
Minister of Justice Andries Carlnel.
Ambassador
Nguyen Manh Hung attached great importance to the August Revolution and
the National Day in Vietnam’s glorious history as well as the
upcoming celebrations of the Thang Long-Hanoi millennium anniversary.
He also expressed wish to boost multi-faceted cooperation between the two nations.
For his part, Andries Carlnel showed his rejoice at the recent fine
developments in bilateral relations and potential of cooperation at both
bilateral and multilateral forums.
“Vietnam
has managed to increase its international prestige and emerged as an
important representative in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations
(ASEAN),” said the South African senior official.
Vietnam ’s National Day was also marked at Zacatecas State of
Mexico on September 2 under the co-sponsorship of the University of
Zacatecas (UOZ) and the Project of International Cooperation run by the
Vietnamese Central Institute of Acupuncture.
Project co-ordinator Dr. Ho Quang Minh emphasised that relations between
Vietnam and the north American country had constantly developed and
brought in more practical results.
Rector Dr.
Dominguez Garay of the University of Zacatecas highly spoke of
Vietnam’s economic achievements in the recent past.
“President Ho Chi Minh has made a bright example and his ideology continues shining today,” said the university head.
He read the university council’s congratulations to General Vo Nguyen Giap on his 100th birthday.
Alfredo Femas, member of the Mexican Labour Party (PT) Central
Committee, made public a book themed “Political essays by President Ho
Chi Minh”. Over 100 copies of the collection, published in Spanish, were
distributed to participants at the event./.
