National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung attended a conference of
businesses and investors in the central province of Nghe An on
Feb. 5.
Nearly 400 businesses and investors
nationwide participated in the conference, the fourth of its kind held
in the native land of President Ho Chi Minh , where they showed
their strong determination to invest and expand investment in projects
in Nghe An province.
Speaking at the event, the NA
Chairman stated that the Party and State have defined the
Socio-economic Development Plan for 2011-2020 and the Socio-economic
Development Strategy for 2011-2020, considering them important
foundations for turning Vietnam into an industrialised country in
2020.
To achieve that goal, localities and the
business community should incessantly renovate the way of thinking in a
rapid and sustainable direction and on the basis of a socialist-oriented
market economy, he said.
In addition, they need
to boost the reforms of management mechanisms and the national
administration in order to take full advantage of abundant human
resources among all people strata, creating a momentum for the country’s
development, he added.
“This task requires reform
not only among cadres and civil servants in charge of State management
but also in the business circle and the entire society,” Hung stressed.
According to Chairman of the provincial People’s
Committee Do Duc Phoc, since the first conference in 2009, more than 30
investment agreements worth nearly 40 trillion VND have been signed and
implemented on schedule in Nghe An province.
Of
which, many social welfare projects have proven effective, helping
reduce poverty and improve the living standards for local residents.
They include the 700 billion VND Sabeco packaging factory, the 1.5
trillion VND Saigon-Song Lam and 800 billion VND Hanoi- Nghe An beer
projects, the 350 million USD TH milk processing plant and the 1
trillion VND Dong Hoi non-burned brick project.
Nghe An province is carrying out several other large-scale projects such
as the Cua Lo deep water seaport, the Dong Hoi specialised port, the
Kobelco steel factory and the 2,400 MW Quynh Lap thermoelectric power
plant.
On the occasion, NA Chairman Hung offered
flowers and incense at the Temple of Emperor Quang Trung and the
Monument to President Ho Chi Minh in Vinh City./.
