Doan Nguyen Duc, chairman of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Corporation, has rejected all accusations made against his company of deforesting and appropriating land in Laos and Cambodia by the NGO Global Witness, calling them "groundless."
The Special Envoy to the Prime Minister of the Royal Government of Bhutan, Lyonpo Kinzang Dorji paid an official visit to Vietnam from February 28-29.
During his visit, Lyonpo Kinzang Dorji paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum and met with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Quang Vinh.
At a reception for Dorji, Prime Minister Dung thanked him for visiting Vietnam , saying it is the most significant step forward in relations since the two countries established diplomatic ties on Jan 19 this year.
Dung said he believes that the bond of friendship and bilateral cooperation between the two countries will become stronger in the future.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister Minh said that Vietnam always attaches a great deal of importance to developing ties with South Asian countries, including Bhutan .
He also recommended that both countries cooperate closer at every level, promote economic, cultural and tourism as well as supporting each other at regional and international forums.
The bhutani official replied that he was impressed with the achievements Vietnam had recorded during its revolutionary struggles in the past as well as its programme of national construction and development at present and agreed that Vietnam and Bhutan should foster closer ties in the near future.
