On August 19, the country’s major dailies run editorials emphasising the
historical significance and valuable lessons learnt from the August
Revolution, which took place 65 years ago.
On August 19 1945, the
entire Vietnamese people under the leadership of the Party, launched a
general uprising to seize power, the daily newspaper Nhan dan (People)
recalled the event.
“The August Revolution was the result of the
long-lasting, resilient and indomitable struggle of the Vietnamese
people under the clear-sighted leadership of the Party and President Ho
Chi Minh,” said the daily in its editorial entitled “Continuing on the
August Revolution road”.
The August Revolution victory put an end
to one century of colonialism and imperialism and one millennium of
feudalism, establishing the republic democracy, bringing Vietnam to
a new era – an era of national independence and socialism, it added.
Editorials
on Hanoi Moi and Quan doi Nhan dan dailies affirmed the existing value
of the three key lessons learnt from the historical event in the current
national construction and defence. These are lessons about taking the
chance to launch a general uprising, upholding great national unity
strength and ensuring a strong and pure party.
The papers also
stressed the country’s chances with its increasing position and strength
after 25 years of implementing the Party-initiated and led Doi Moi
(renewal) process.
It is necessary to snatch the opportunities
to overcome difficulties, creat significant breakthroughs in social
life, help to accelerate industrialisation and modernisation, they
added.
“Under the Party’s leadership, with the August
Revolution’s spirit and efforts to uphold national strength and step up
the renewal process, we will overcome all challenges and keep up on the
glorious August Revolution road,” the editorials concluded./.
