Vietnamese Minister of Public Security Le Hong Anh and his Chinese counterpart Meng Jianzhu have signed a cooperation agreement on the prevention and control of human trafficking and the minutes of the second anti-crime conference between the two ministries.

At the second anti-crime conference held in Beijing, China, Wednesday, Minister General Anh said that the conference took place when the two countries were celebrating the 60 th anniversary of their diplomatic ties and the Vietnam-China Friendship Year.

It is a practical activity to mark these significant events, he said.

Minister Meng took the occasion to confirm his ministry’s wish to enhance cooperation with Vietnam ’s Public Security Ministry in facing future challenges.

The conference reviewed anti-crime cooperation over the recent past and discussed orientations for future cooperation in the field.

Both sides agreed that cross-border crimes have been put under control and security along the border has been maintained, contributing to building the Vietnam-China border into the one of peace, friendship and development.

The two sides advocated the continuation of exchanging information on crimes, strengthening cooperation and increasing experience, cultural and sports exchanges.

Also on Sept. 15, Minister Anh paid a courtesy visit to Politburo Standing Committee member of the Communist Party of China Central Committee (CPC CC) and Secretary of the CPCCC’s Political and Legislative Affairs Committee Zhou Yongkang.

The first anti-crime conference between the two parties took place in December, 2008.
