HA NOI — State President Nguyen Minh Triet yesterday received a delegation from the Netherlands-based Royal FrieslandCampina, led by Wantenaar Cornelis Hendrikus, chairman of the group's supervisory board, in Ha Noi.
Triet applauded FrieslandCampina's relationship with Viet Nam in recent years, especially in milk production. He urged the group to transfer milk cow breeding techniques to local farmers and expand its operation into other fields.
The leader praised the group for its support for hunger eradication and poverty reduction, as well as poor students in Viet Nam.
Hart thanked the Vietnamese Government for its favourable conditions for the company to do business in the country over the past 15 years.
The executive said his group wants to co-operate with Vietnamese partners on milk cow breeding and other areas. He also promised to continue backing the country's hunger elimination, poverty reduction and poor student programmes.
NA chairman hails Japanese ambassador's role
HA NOI — National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong has praised the contribution of outgoing Japanese Ambassador to Viet Nam Mitsuo Sakaba to the enhancement of friendship and co-operation between the two nations.
While receiving the ambassador yesterday in Ha Noi, Trong said Sakaba helped foster exchanges and bilateral co-operation in all fields, from politics to economics, trade, investment, culture and education.
Trong said the two countries agreed to elevate their relationship to the level of strategic partnership, and Japan was now an important partner in terms of direct investment, trade and provision of official development assistance.
Co-operation and sharing of experiences between the two parliaments had also been strengthened, he added.
The legislator said he hoped that the diplomat would contribute further to promoting Viet Nam-Japan relations.
The same day, First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee Vo Van Thuong presented a "For the Young Generation" insignia to Ambassador Sakaba. — VNS
