Party Committees and administrative authorities should protect the people who are actively fighting corruption, said Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong.
"In the fight against corruption, detection and denunciation are the most important activities," said Trong. "They are prerequisites for future development."
Speaking at a meeting concerning the nation's anti-corruption campaign Tuesday in the capital city, Trong, who is also the Deputy Director of the National Anti Corruption Steering Committee (NACSC), said the Party, the government and the public were resolved to fight corruption.
"It is imperative to have a mechanism to protect the denunciators and encourage their bravery."
Trong assigned the NACSC office and the Minister of Public Security to create measures to protect denunciators. The draft will be sent to Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung for approval.
"In a grassroots democracy, it is important to ensure that the people's elected organizations perform their supervisory role when dealing with financial transparency and inventory declarations."
In addition, Trong asked relevant agencies to adopt policies to encourage, support and compensate denunciators.
Trong called on the participants to embrace their anti-corruption spirit and take resolute actions against corrupt individuals.
Among the 88 people who have been selected as role models in the anti-corruption campaign during the nation-wide meeting, 19 are women and 69 are men. The youngest role model is Tran Thi Tuyet Nhi, 22, and the oldest is Le Dao, 84.
Vu Tien Chien, a member of the Party Central Committee and director of the NACSC office, said the conference was a manifestation of the positive developments made in the anti-corruption campaign that is under the Communist Party of Vietnam and the government's leadership.
"Confidence in the inevitable victory of the anti-corruption campaign should be the driving force for the denunciators who advance forward," said Chien.
"Most of the corrupt officials are people with large amounts of power. That's why their retaliation acts are sometimes very subtle and sophisticated," he said.
A picture of the battle against corruption was successfully painted by the participants at the conference, which revealed the people's confidence in the Party and the government.
