Typical foreign delegates of the friendship and solidarity movement during two Vietnamese resistance wars have met in Hanoi for a get-together to celebrate 65 years of Vietnam and international solidarity.
The delegates also included representatives of international organizations that have helped Vietnam during the country’s renewal process.
On behalf of the Vietnamese State, Party and people, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan warmly welcomed Vietnam’s loyal friends, who have supported the country in its struggle for national liberation in the past and during construction and development at present.
He said he believed that Vietnam would continue to receive more support as well as solidarity, friendship and the cooperation of foreign governments and people.
Foreign friends’ assistance to Vietnam has encouraged the country to overcome many challenges to gain victories in all fields in order to build a bright future for the whole nation following the path that selected by late President Ho Chi Minh, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Vu Xuan Hong said.
Foreign participants took this occasion to congratulate Vietnam on its National Day (Sept. 2).
They recalled the solidarity of other countries in the world with Vietnam’s resistance wars, affirming that the country’s struggle was a process of a brave fight for national independence and freedom.
The success of Vietnam’s August Revolution and Independence Day has an international meaning for the oppressed and exploited people in the world as they struggle for independence, democracy and social advancement, they said.
Deputy Chairman of the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association Joel Diaz Gutierez said Vietnam is continuing to make President Ho Chi Minh’s dream come true.
Chief representative of APHEDA, an international non-governmental organization which has operated in Vietnam for 25 years, Phillip Hazelton, spoke highly of Vietnam’s endeavors in overcoming wars’ aftermaths and implementing poverty reduction task.
He also expressed his pleasure at Vietnam’s changes in the implementation of its renewal process.
APHEDA will continue to strengthen friendship with Vietnam through projects and initiatives to help the country deal with challenges of development, Hazelton said.
On Thursday the foreign delegates laid wreaths and paid tribute at Uncle Ho’s Mausoleum, visited Ho Chi Minh Museum and Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature).
They concluded their six-day visit to Vietnam on Friday.
