Mozambican Prime Minister Aires Bonifacio Ali made a tour of Ho Chi Minh City and two southern provinces of Binh Phuoc and Tien Giang on September 1-2.

While visiting Binh Phuoc province on Sept. 1, PM Ali made a fact-finding tour of My Le Cashew Import and Export Company, Phu Rieng Rubber MTV Ltd. Co, and Farm No. 6 located in Bu Gia Map district.

PM Ali praised Vietnam in general and Binh Phuoc province in particular for socio-economic growth and expressed his views on cooperation as well as economic development in rubber and cashew planting. He said he hoped that Binh Phuoc would help his country in terms of variety, technique, production and processing methods.

PM Ali highlighted the close relations between Vietnam and Mozambique, which, he said, have developed through liberation movements and prospered during the current socio-economic cooperation.

He pledged to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to explore, research, invest and carry out tree-planting projects in his country.

During the meeting with Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan late on September 1, the Mozambican PM said he was impressed with the economic achievements the city has recorded.

Mozambique has learned from Vietnam’s experience in socio-economic development, especially in agriculture, hunger elimination and poverty reduction, he said, adding that Mozambique wishes to welcome Vietnamese experts on agriculture and irrigation as well as scientists to lecture on technique and share experiences with his country.

The host and guest compared notes on traditional relations between the two countries, which have been further cemented through recent visits of high-ranking officials.

Along with political and diplomatic ties, cooperation in economics, trade, science and technology between Vietnam and Mozambique have developed fruitfully, they said.

Chairman Quan expressed his pleasure at the achievements Mozambique has recorded, saying he believed that the visit by PM ALi would reap fine results and open up cooperation opportunities between HCM City and localities of Mozambique, contributing to boosting friendship between the two nations.

The Mozambican PM also took the occasion to extend his congratulations to Vietnam and mathematician Ngo Bao Chau for being awarded the Fields Medal.

In Tien Giang province on September 2, Chairman of Tien Giang People’s Committee Tran The Ngoc briefed PM Ali of the province’s strength and potential as well as its investment opportunities.

The Mozambican PM expressed his wish to cooperate with the province, saying he is interested in areas such as good agriculture practice (GAP), aquatic farming for exports and industry development.

He visited a fish raising model in Tien river, an example of one of the province’s economic strengths.
