The Party, State and people of Vietnam highly value and are thankful for the support and assistance from international friends, State President Nguyen Minh Triet said on Wednesday.

President Triet affirmed that the Vietnamese people always treasure the sentiment, while warmly receiving in Hanoi 61 international delegates who are in Vietnam to attend celebrations of the 65th anniversary of Revolutionary August and National Day, September 2.

He described the sentiment as one of important foundations that develops and nurtures the friendship and cooperation between Vietnamese people and people of other countries.

The President said he believes that during their visit to Vietnam, the international friends will witness the country’s positive changes and continue to provide valuable support to Vietnam’s renewal process and industrialization and modernization.

The guests are war veterans, experts, members of families making contributions to Vietnam and representatives from various social organizations from 21 countries, including Laos, Cambodia, China, Russia, Cuba and other countries in Europe, the Asia-Pacific and America.

They were those who stood shoulder by shoulder with the Vietnamese people during the struggle for national reunification, provided the Vietnamese people’s struggle with political, material and spiritual help and have cooperated with Vietnam in the current renewal process and international integration.

International delegates expressed their pleasure on returning to Vietnam and witnessing the country’s achievements in its renewal process, national construction and defense under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

They recalled memories of comradeship and closeness with the Vietnamese people, affirming their efforts to continue to serve as a bridge to foster the solidarity, friendship and cooperation between people of other countries and the Vietnamese people.
