US operatic pop vocal group Il Divo will make its Vietnam debut at the finale of the 2010 Miss World Vietnamese beauty pageant in Nha Trang on August 21.
Formed in 2004 after a global search, the multinational group consists of American tenor David Miller, Spanish baritone Carlos Marín, Swiss tenor Urs Bühler, and French pop singer Sébastien Izambard.
Il Divo, which performs in English, Italian, Spanish, French, and Latin, released its debut album, also titled “Il Divo,” in 2004. It hit number one in the charts in 13 countries and ranked in the top five in 25 others.
The group collaborated with American R&B singer Toni Braxton to perform the 2006 FIFA World Cup official song, "The Time of Our Lives."
Its last album, “The Promise,” released in 2008, hit the No.1 spot in UK.
Miss World Vietnamese is a beauty contest for ethnic Vietnamese from all over the world.
It was first held in 2007 and it returns after a three-year gap.
This year’s event, to be held again at the five-star entertainment and tourism complex Vinpearl Land, will open on August 10 with 40 contestants.
