Thuy, who is 1.77 meters tall and measures 76-58-85, defeated two other finalists, Nguyen Thi Tra My and Le Thi Thuy, to grasp the crown at the second Vietnam’s Next Top Model competition.
“The first prize is just the beginning of my modeling career and I will try my best to conquer both local and international catwalks,” Thuy said in her triumphant moment.
The second-year student of Hanoi’s University of Architecture was born into a poverty-stricken family that used to live under a bridge.
Thuy got an exclusive contract worth VND1 billion with Be U Model & Talent Management, and VND200 million in cash from Her World magazine. She will also appear on the cover of this magazine and take a short modeling training course in Paris.
On the final round night Le Thi Thuy from Quang Binh Province was the first to be eliminated after the catwalk challenge to perform swimsuits by Do Manh Cuong. Then, Hoang Thi Thuy defeated Nguyen Thi Tra My in the photo-shoot challenge in the theme music and costumes of characters in Hollywood musical Burlesque.
Supermodel Tyra Banks, the creator and the host of the world-renowned America’s Next Top Model, a guest judge at the coronation night of the contest, said, “Hoang Thi Thuy is a model for high fashion. She owns fierce walks and an impressive face. Moreover, she shows great passion to modeling career.”
