Fifteen tour guides battle it out for top award

HA NOI — Fifteen tour guides have gathered to compete in the final round of the second National Tour Guide Competition held in Ha Noi on Sunday.

The 15 shortlist contestants were selected from 50 candidates from 14 cities and provinces nationwide. They have performed in a range of categories, including video tape dubbing, questions and answer session, and foreign-language speaking contest.

Tour guide Huynh Cong Hieu from the Saigontourist won first prize, worth VND5 million and a tour package for two people to South Korea. He also won the best dubbing award thanks to his presentation on Hoi An Town.

Runners-up Nguyen Hong Nguyen from Hanoitourist and Nguyen Quynh from the Saigontourist won VND4 million cash prizes and a trip for two people to Malaysia and Singapore.

Vice general director of the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Manh Cuong said the competition aimed to honour tour guides and reward those who excelled at their job, helping contribute towards improving the Vietnamese tourism industry. — VNS
