Sympathy for Vietnam’s serious hurt full of sprint

Published: Thursday, September 06, 2012

Vietnam’s queen of sprint recently picked up a serious injury during a traffic accident when she was running with other teammates in Danang.

Hang is still under intensive treatment in hospital. The Vietnam Athletics Federation has assisted her with VND20 million.

The German instructor has help train mid- and long-range runners for many countries in Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and Vietnam in Southeast Asia, over the past 17 years.

Under his instructions, many athletes have become SEA Games champions and one has broken world record for the 5,000m event.

Hang is the most prominent runner in Vietnamese history who has dominated the SEA Games’ 800m and 1,500m events since 2005 with a total of 8 gold medals. In 2010, she also bagged two silvers.

She is also the only Vietnamese who twice touched gold at the Asian tournaments.
