The national team has begun training for the Southeast Asia Under-16 football championship held in Indonesia next month.

Head coach Hoang Van Phuc has called up many fresh faces for the September 18-26 tournament where the team will play against China, Timor Leste and hosts Indonesia in a round-robin format.

Prominent in the team are strikers Do Van Ba of SHB Da Nang and Vo Ngoc Toan of Song Lam Nghe An, leading scorers at the U17 football championship last July.

The squad also includes skillful midfielder Ma Van Tuan and powerful striker Ho Ngoc Thang, both of Da Nang.
