Ha Noi to host Suzuki Cup football draw

The official draw for the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup will be held at Ha Noi's Sheraton hotel on September 15.

The tournament's qualifying rounds will be held in Laos from October 22 to 30.

Viet Nam and Indonesia will co-host the finals from December 1 to 29.

The tournament will be the biggest football contest in the ASEAN region since 1996 and will decide the top football nation among the AFF's 11 members – Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Viet Nam and East Timor.

The winner will receive US$100,000, while the runner-up will be awarded $50,000.

Each team qualifying to play the major round will receive $15,000.

The Suzuki Motor Company has been sponsoring the AFF since 2008.

More than 200 entries in national judo champ

The National Judo Championship kicked off yesterday in Da Nang city.

More than 200 artists are competing in both combat and performance events.

The competition, which is part of the National Sports Games, ends on Friday.

Army team win petanque with three golds, one silver

The Army team won the National Petanque (iron bowling) Championship after clinching three golds and one silver medal.

The tournament was held at the Quan Ngua Sports Palace in Ha Noi on the weekend.
