Deadline set for PMH homebuyers to pay land use fees

Published: Thursday, November 03, 2011

HCMC – The HCMC government has just set December 10 as the deadline for residents in Phu My Hung new urban area to pay their land use fees under the old tariffs, otherwise they will be subject to the new tariffs that are several times higher.

The city government made it clear that property buyers in the Saigon South urban center can still enjoy the low land use fees in accordance with the contracts they signed with the property developer Phu My Hung Corp. in the past. Those failing to settle the fees will be imposed with the new tariffs made in accordance with the market price.

According to the land use price set by the municipal government, land use fees this year will be between two and eight times higher than they were in 2008.

The management board of Saigon South suggested that Phu My Hung Corp. fulfill all dossiers applying for land entitlement certificates for its customers ahead of next Friday to present them to the competent authority.

Some 2,800 out of 5,286 sets of dossiers have been applied to the city government for the time being. However, over 400 homebuyers who signed contracts with Phu My Hung Corp. before 2008 still ignore the issue.

The late procedure is blamed on the fact that some customers live abroad, some have changed their addresses and others are in the middle of disputes over the land use fee policy made by the investor, a representative of Phu My Hung Corp. said.
